Brandon goes back home to Geneva, Chicago when he's not in school which prompted a slightly derailed discussion about the World Series. Justin proves that when you are a successful dentist (like Brandon Evert is going to be) you have no problem going to Game 4 of the World Series and throwing down $1,000 on a table at Cubby's... just to pre-game before the game itself. Oh, the life of a dentist.

He right in the middle of his educational career at Indiana University, expected to graduate in 2018. So, while he is by far our youngest guest to be on the podcast… He proved himself to be quite the budding dentist! Moody even grilled him over interview questions that they would ask while in the process of graduating or certified.

Dr. Erin Elliott was born and raised in Southern California. She played soccer at Houghton College, a small Christian college in Western New York. She attended dental school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE where she graduated in the top 5 of her class.

Most dentists live in fear of litigation but few worry about going to prison. Nonetheless, I went to prison on August 20, 2008 and was released on May 14, 2010. If you'd like, take a deep breath, hold on, and take a ride with me through a health care providers worst nightmare. Take heart....there are ways to prevent what happened to me from happening to you.

Born in Pennington Gap, VA, I was "raised" on a farm in rural southwest Virginia. Growing up there I learned to love the people and the scenery of the Appalachian Mountains. The second of 4 boys born to a High School agriculture teacher and a registered nurse, working on the farm instilled the importance of hard work. I'm deeply thankful to my parents for the example they set for me. I graduated from Pennington High School in 1973, with honors, and was accepted and enrolled at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville the fall semester of that same year. I was a 1977 graduate of the University of Virginia with a double major in Biology and Religious Studies. I applied, was accepted to, and enrolled in the dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with honors in 1981, 5th of 115. I returned home in 1981 to start my new practice in my grandfather's hardware store building.

Serving organized dentistry as a former Secretary/Treasurer and President of the southwest Virginia, Component 6, Virginia Dental Association I learned the importance of giving back to the profession. I was honored to be been made a delegate to the Virginia Dental Association's Annual Meeting. I also learned the importance of volunteerism....giving back to my community, state, and world as I had been so richly blessed. I have served for over 7 years with the various Mission of Mercy projects in Virginia and have been a member of a team of short term missionaries with the Baptist Medical Dental Missions International to Honduras, CA for 10 years. All this happened prior to the voluntary surrender of my dental license for revocation after the conviction and prior to sentencing.

The criminal action began as an investigation by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the FBI in 2003 of the dental practice and myself. To this day, we still do not know what or who initiated the action. I was indicted in October of 2006 after evidence was presented twice to the Grand Jury in the western district of Virginia. I was tried in United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia, Roanoke Division in Abingdon. I was found guilty after a 9 day jury trial on March 6, 2008, of Health Care Fraud, Racketeering, Money Laundering, and Structuring. The money laundering convictions were set aside on July 1, 2008. On July 10, 2008, I was sentenced by the Honorable James P. Jones, of the Western District of Virginia to serve 24 months in Federal Prison with an additional 36 months of supervised probation. I am now serving the 36 month of supervised probation. During the sentencing, the prosecution presented witnesses and evidence to establish, support, and "demonstrate the amount of loss sustained by the victims as result of the offense”. Of the payments that I received during the six and a half years reviewed (payments in excess of three and a half million dollars) that loss was determined to be $17,889.57. In addition, I was ordered on March 6, 2008 to forfeit $200,000 as a result of the RICO and Structuring conviction. A penalty of $75,000 were ordered on July 10, 2008. The restitution represents "restitution to each victim in the full amount of each victim’s losses”. The Government began an appeal of the decision in the criminal case; however, has since abandoned that appeal. The criminal case is now final as a matter law. The government continued their attempts to again prosecute me and the practice via a civil complaint filed on November 6th, 2009. That action was settled without going to trial in February 2013. The civil complaint was based on the same alleged course of action and claims as in the criminal action. For the time being, there are no pending actions against me, but who knows how long that will continue to be the case?

Dr. Donlin started with We Care Dental in August of 2013 when he purchased the practice from Dr. Gerald Elpert. Kevin and his family have enjoyed settling into the community of Madison. He has been married to his wife Angela since 2006. They have two children, Derrick (5) and Nadine (3). Both children have been having fun participating in numerous activities in town. Kevin is also involved in Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, Madison Rotary Club, member of the Madison VFW, American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association, and the South Dakota Academy of General Dentistry.

On Dec. 26th of 2015, I got news that forever changed me. I was diagnosed with Leukemia. There's nothing like thinking you're going to die to make you really understand what's important in life. For me, that was my faith and my family. I spent the next 8 months doing chemotherapy fighting cancer. Thankfully, my treatment was successful and I'm now in complete remission but the experience has given me a renewed and much deeper perspective on life.

That means I have to get rid of the ‘stinking thinking’ that holds me back. I need to work on my clinical speed, on the services that I provide, and be a leader in time management with the schedule. If that isn’t enough, I need to make sure the team is trained to support our patients and our business goals. The common denominator in all of it is me. That’s another reason why the idea of PDA appealed to me. At the hundreds of courses I attended over the years, I have listened to more than my share of participants whine about their practices. It got old… fast. PDA is not a place where people come to whine and complain and abdicate responsibility. It is a place where doctors accept full responsibility for themselves and their practice. There is common agreement that “It all starts with me.” And, there is excitement and a burning desire to raise the bar and get stronger and better—regardless of where one is starting on the journey.

PDA is better described as a community of friends (attend one of our programs and you’ll see what I mean). Since I began teaching PDA over six years ago, my own productivity has climbed $300 an hour EVERY YEAR. I know the information works.

To date, over 500 practices have attended PDA and that number is growing daily thanks to community-based networks such as Dental Town.

Dr. Emery was raised in Chicago, Illinois and presently resides in McLean, Virginia. He received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts Degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he met Kathy, his wife to whom he has been married since 1980. Subsequently he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Illinois and a simultaneous Bachelor of Science Degree in Dentistry. Upon completing his dental degrees, he obtained a certificate in a hospital-based General Practice Residency program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. During this program Dr. Emery received advanced training managing special needs patients and the geriatric population. Following this, he received his certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery from the University of Maryland where he received extensive training in orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders, and facial trauma.

Rotations included the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon (diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery), fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and a fellow and member of many recognized national and international dental, facial cosmetic surgery, and dental implant organizations. I was born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma and graduated from Norman High School in 1978. Following high school, I attended the University of Kansas, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Biology. Although my father is a dentist, it was not in my original plan to become one myself; after all, I had to rebel and do my own thing, right? One problem with this plan was that I couldn't help but notice how much my dad enjoyed what he did, how he thrived on the relationships he developed with his patients over the years, and how much he enjoyed learning new things and changing people's lives. I decided I wanted the same fulfillment in my career, so I swallowed my pride, admitted my dad was right, and attended the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, graduating in 1986. Although it was somewhat painful to attend school with a bunch of Oklahoma Sooners, I survived and was able to purchase the Lawrence practice of Dr. John Albers soon after graduation.

From 1987 until 1999, I practiced in both Lawrence and Tonganoxie, dividing the time between them. Following the sale of my Lawrence practice in 1998, I have settled full time in Tonganoxie, a wonderful small town with great people. Although I don't live there, Tonganoxie feels like home to me.

Dr. Rubinshtein also is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry where he received his doctor of dental surgery degree. At NYUCD, Dr. Rubinshtein was a member of the Aesthetic Honors program where he displayed his artistic and keen eye for beauty. He won first place in the Empire State Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry smile makeover campaign, a prestigious recognition in the dental community, and placed among the top ranking dentists at the national American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Conference.

Dr. Rubinshtein’s desire to help others who are less fortunate has been apparent in his involvement with many charities from oral cancer to feeding the homeless. His time spent on several dental outreaches that served under privileged communities throughout the country, displays his genuine concern for not only the art of dentistry but also the importance of dental health. Dr. Hatcher received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Washington in 1973. Subsequently he completed two years of active duty in the U.S. Public Health Service and a one year general practice residency program at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Following three years as an instructor and one year as active director of the general practice residency program and the hospital dental clinic at the University of Washington. Dr. Hatcher completed the graduate program in radiology at the University of Toronto and was granted a specialty in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in 1982 and an M.Sc. in 1983. His thesis topic dealt with radiology of mandibular dysfunction.

Dr. Hatcher was an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Division of Radiology for five years at the University of Alberta, Canada. He was also Director of the Temporo mandibular Joint Investigation Unit and Clinic while at the University of Alberta. He has faculty appointments at both the University of California San Francisco and the University of Pacific Dental Schools. He has published many articles and lectured extensively to medical and dental organizations around the World.

Dr. Carlson is the owner and operator of his practice, Carlson Orthodontics, and he lectures around the country with Carlson Quintero Seminars.

Dr. Carlson is a Board Certified Orthodontist who received his dental degree from Harvard University in 1994. Dr. Zuckerberg is a 1978 graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at the Brooklyn V.A. Hospital in 1979 and received advanced training in Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Endodontics (Root Canal) and Prosthetics (Crown, Bridges and Dentures). In 1984, Dr. Zuckerberg received a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.) recognizing his superior achievements in post-graduate continuing education.

He has consulted with insurance companies and appeared as an expert witness in court. Dr. Chenin graduated from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and practiced for several years in the San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Daniel Domingue was born and raised in Lafayette, LA. He graduated from St. Thomas More in 1999 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and his DDS degree from the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans.

While spending three years in advanced training at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, he served as Chief Resident of the Dental and Oral Surgery Department. His training included one year in Advanced General Dentistry and two years in Dental Implantology.

During these years, he was awarded the Certificate of Achievement from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry for outstanding leadership in Implant Dentistry, a Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and an Associate Fellowship of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Domingue was also awarded Diplomate from the American Board of Oral Implantology, the highest award possible for a general dentist practicing implantology. He was also recognized as the youngest recipient of this award in the entire world.

Dr. Domingue was later given a Mastership and Diplomate award from the International Congress of Oral Implantology for his outstanding work in Implant Dentistry. Dr. Domingue is a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Acadiana District Dental Association. He is also an active member of the American Academy of General Dentistry.

After completing his residency program, Dr. Domingue married the love of his life, Megan, in Denver, CO. They decided to move back to Louisiana to settle down, practice dentistry, and raise their family. On August 2nd, 2012, he and Megan were blessed with their first-born baby girl, Elle Ann Domingue.

After practicing for three years in Lake Charles, Dr. Domingue accepted an offer from his uncle, Dr. Smith, to become a partner in his practice. This proved to be a great opportunity for he and his family to move back home as well as to join his uncle’s practice and carry on a tradition established more than 30 years ago.

Dr. Justin Moody is your host and creator for the podcast. He is a fifth generation farm kid and the first generation to do something other than cows and wheat. Graduating from Crawford High School, attended the University of Nebraska and received his doctorate in Dental Surgery at the University of Oklahoma college of Dentistry. He returned to his hometown of Crawford Nebraska to practice upon his graduation in 1997, it is here that he began his career in implant dentistry.
